How does one ask for help?

I just need some help over the "rough spots". I'm usually OK. I've been to talk therapy. I take my medication regularly. But there are times when I feel really, really, really depressed. Even though I know "this too shall pass", it AINT HAPPENIN' FAST ENUF! Probably tomorrow will be a brighter day, but meanwhile....what does one do?

My best friend of 30 years seems to be going down a different path these days and, while my sister would come if I called, she's rather distant. They both seem distant.

Its too hot for the month of May.

I have my period.

Yesterday I sat with my elderly (90s) neighbor for 4 hours because she was feeling anxious and alone. I brought her water, listened to her cry for her late husband, and wondered if I was looking at my fate.

Its just the heat and my period. I'm usually ok.

Thank you all for bearing with me.

Now its time to get ready for work.

I experience my depression kind of like you do.

I'm usually ok, but then something happens, and it just all feels like it's falling down around my ears! It can be something big (fight with my hubby), or something small (seeing roadkill on the side of the road...), but once I get into the "funk" it's really hard to shake myself out of it!

You said it yourself...this too shall pass...and it WILL! Never fast enough for us, but it does pass...that's the nature of time!

Sounds like you're kind of lonely...you mention your sister and a best friend, but who else is in your support system? Local friends? Sometimes, we need different people to turn to for different things. Do you have a REALLY funny friend? Give her a call and see what's going on in her wild and crazy life! Do you have a really crafty friend? Call her and see what kind of projects she's working on!

When you're feeling down, just remember that it will pass, and try to surround yourself with people who are lighthearted, funny, supportive, nurturing...NO NEGATIVITY HERE!

And, if you don't have those people in real life, then you certainly have them here!!!!

I have a very very very small support group having always been somewhat asocial. I did stop by to visit another friend last night, someone with whom I feel comfortable enough to cry in front of. At least the pain in my abodomen went away after that.

As far as "Funny Friends"? I'm it. I'm the one other people call when they want cheering up.

Thank you for the <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Tomorrow will be better. The temperature will be cooler, almost normal for this time of year and I'll be another day closer to the end of my menstrual cycle. Peri-menopause. I hate it. How come we don't just "stop" getting our periods, like we just "started" when we were kids? Bummer.
