For some of you, the accompanying articles may be triggers.

As always barb, great information you provided...

I went to the sites an doh my god I could relate to almost all of those things listed as self destructive behavior but then again you know me and know what I have been thru and put mysekf thru not just this past year but my whole life...

It is funny because when you are going thrut he motions of these actions you really dont see it as good orbad but just part of who you are..sad thing is I think that is a reason that alot of people dont stop doing what they are doing to themselves...I know from my own experiance that it took so long for me to stop and really look at myself and see what I was doing to myself by putting myself down all the time..you know that up until recently I thought that I was fat and ugly and I took diet pills like they were going out of style and you say the pictures of me caly posted so you now that I was never fat and I know now tht I was never fat..but then I didnt see it..

Anyways I can go on forever..

Thank you so much for posting that information you are awesome..

Love to all

Wow. I have a whole host of self destructive behaviors. I guess it's good to recognize them and try to fix them right away. Thanks for posting that!

My most self destructive addiction is eating. Even when I know I shouldn't eat because I'm not hungry and I know I'll feel guilty for it later, I do anyway. But I'm happy because tonight I resisted a midnight fast food snack even though my friend had some.

I'm definitely going to check into those websites... Are there any self-help books you could recommend, especially dealing with self-destructive mental patterns?

Thank you,

Kyu

There is a book entitled "Self-Destructive Behaviors" by Cudney & Hardy. This book is EXCELLENT! It has helped me identify not only how and why certain behaviors are destructive, but is truly a great tool for actually ELIMINATING these behaviors and replacing them with healthy ones. I heartily recommend this book.
