I stopped a tradegy today

Was doing ok today when life flashed before my eyes....not mine, my niece's. Her parents were otherwise occupied, as was myself and my mom..dad was asleep. I wasn't supposed to be watching her..and was in the bathroom. I heard her come in and call for 'pop-pop'(my dad)...half in minute later, my mom and I both walk into the living room and saw the front door open. We ran outside to find my niece almost in the main road of the neighborhood(apparently looking for my dad, who sometimes goes to check the mailbox with her right up the road there). There were two cars rushing by and no one even slowed down. I called to her as I started running, she luckily didn't think I was playing 'chase me' and ran toward me instead of to the road. When I caught her up in my arms, I told her 'don't ever do that again' and started crying. She was upset, felt me upset and started too. THEN her parents came out..I couldn't let her go as my mom explained what just nearly happened. I finally let her mom take her. I couldn't stop shaking and crying...her parents didn't even drop a tear. They must not care about her very much...it was like business as usual and they pretty much went back to normal. But my niece was upset that I was crying and came and sat next to me and held my hand and mimiced back what she's heard us say when she's upset,"It's ok. Not hurt. Don't cry. Look at me, it's ok." And patted my face where my tears fell. She's only 3 years old. She could've died today. My mom said she'd never seen me run so fast. Later her mom and dad came up individually to me to say thank you...but they just didn't seem to really understand...their daughter could have just died. Where were they? My brother is going to blame his wife, and she'll blame him; they'll have something to fight about for weeks now. But they won't take extra care from now on to love and cherish her, I bet anything.

I just needed to share this because.....I don't know, I guess all of you are my extended family now and it just got me thinking.

please send her more guardian angels than I have to give

hugs

Thank you so much. Her parents don't deserve her sometimes...and I don't want kids, so I am very glad to be her aunt and protect her when they can't.

Thank you to all! Last night I had trouble sleeping and am barely functioning today. She is very dear, but all my nieces and nephews are...especially since I've gotten to know more of them. Guardian angels definitely come in handy for us all.
