Well..... You could try being honest and saying

that you need time to relax and you will give them

x amount of time on this particular day.....

Or if they are like my family and just don't get it,

You could fake being sick...a really bad headache? and

you need to veg on the porch with a tea and some snoozing.

I have done it when all else fails. Hee Hee...they brought me tea

and made everyone leave me alone, including my husband and

children ;) I didn't even feel guilty, I just relaxed.

Good luck and have a geat time!!!!!

I like what Alanna said....about faking it but I would go the honest route and just tell your mom that you really are not up for quilt shopping that you have had a ton of stress at work and you just want to veg out end of story......and if she doesnt take that then go for the sick route...

as for tim I would just continue to bite the old tongue sometimes it isnt worth being honest and doing the de-bitting of the tongue I would opt for peace keeping you seem to have a good friendship with him..

When do you go away?

I do hope that you have a good time you really do deserve this brake from all the craziness that has been going on n your life..

All my best

Hi there Tracarts,

I had a couple of ideas when I read your post. For your mother, if you really don't want to go, then don't. You could say something like, "That sounds like fun, but I made other plans." Then you can tell her that you do want to spend some quality time with her before you leave.

I can relate to your relationship with your "friend" who you don't agree with much. I find that it is better to not be as "open" with people who you don't have much in common with. In the past, these kinds of situations would leave me feeling drained and questioning myself. I finally realized that I would never be able to be open and keep the relationship with them, so I save it for people who really accept me for who I am.

Above all, enjoy your trip!!

Inhale, exhale, repeat.
