all of you on lexapro have any of you experienced weight gain??

I have been on Lexapro for 6 months (10 mg) and about a week ago the doctor moved me up to the 20 mg. When I went in he said that the medication wouldn't "Make you gain weight" but that it would make you where you would eat more. ((I kinda see a RELATIONSHIP there!)) But seriously has anyone else had a weight gain on Lexapro?

I really do enjoy taking my anti-depressant. If I had known it would have helped as well as it has emotionally I should have talked to my doctor long ago.

Hi. I've been on Lexapro 10mg in combination with Wellbutrin 100mg twice a day for about 2 months now. I was taking 20mg of Lexapro at first, but I complained to my psychiatrist that my sex life went downhill, so he increased the Wellbutrin & slowly tapored me down the Lexapro. I really do feel a lot better & more stable- I was diagnosed w/ major depression & post tramatic stress disorder & hospitalized for 5 days in April. With the combination of meds, I feel more in control & my relationship w/ my husband has improved- thank goodness. Good luck, Karla

I've been taking 20 mg of lexapro since since january. I am not finding it not very helpful for me. My emotions run right through. from what my doctor told me to watch out for it sounds like you should talk with your doctor. I could be wrong. I haven't had much expirence. I've only been diagnosed for six months but suffering for ten years. It's late my words are jumbled in my head. I hope this makes sense.

Hi,

I took lexapro for several months. It did not hinder my emotions, but it also didnt seem to really help me. It did help some, but not as well as other antidepressants that I had been on in the past. The reason I started taking it as opposed to the one I had been on was because it was said to have low sexual side effects. But, since it didnt seem to help with my depression and anger, I switched it. I am now back on Prozac and while I think it helps more than the Lexapro, it isnt giving me the results I need. I have also taken Zoloft and Wellbutrin in the past. The Wellbutrin made me feel like I was going crazy. My heart was always racing and I felt like a timebomb! NOt a good thing!

I would love to find something that truly made me feel like a normal, happy person again. I cant say that I have been happy in several years.
