Hi,

I am a lurker and have a question for those taking Zoloft. I don't want to stop taking zoloft because it has saved my life BUT i have to deal with having virtually no sex drive. Does anyone know of any sort of medication or herbal supplement that has worked for them or anyone else? I love feeling better about myself but really miss the desire to be intimate!

Please help if you can! Carrie

Lexapro does wonders for your sex drive. I was on Prozac for 4 years and had enought of no sex drive and a friend turned me to Lexapro. Sexlife has never been better and the Lexapro helps the same with my anxiety and depression.

Zoloft, Paxil and Prozac all have the major side effect of very low libido. Unfortunately, the drugs works on both the serotonin neutrotransmitter for antidepression and for antisex drive. They are very similar. That's why this is a side effect across the board with these drugs.

I hear what Trac is saying about a cocktail, but I would certainly understand reluctance to start adding meds. I don't have experience with Lexapro myself.

However, I can tell you that there is one thing that by far has the strongest effect on depression than any drug. It has no side effects. It is exercise. I've read about this, but I'm learning more in my current class on psychopharmacology in my masters in counseling program. The only problem is that the last thing depressed people want to do is exercise. But it's the best thing for us.

Good Luck,
