Lamictal--rash

I'm worried about getting a rash from taking Lamictal. I've had rashes before from taking other meds. Has anyone taken Lamictal and gotten a rash? Does it go away? What does it look like? Were you able to recover from it? Did anyone not get a rash?

I took Lamictal for a half year and had to stop it cause I got a rash on my neck a puss filled rash that looked like acne but it wasnt I went to my PCP and had him look at it he was stumped so I went to my shrink and showed him and he stopped it right away due to the fact that it could have been Stephen johnsons syndrom which can be fatel so I stopped taking the lamictal and well the rash went away that was almost a year ago..
BUT I can not stress enough that I am not you and you are not me so whatever cause me to have such a reaction does not mean that you will have the same reaction to Lamictal I would talk with your doc about the side effects and express your concerns not everyone has the same reaction to meds..I am on neurontin and I love it and it works great makes me kinda tired at night which is good..
Best bet talk with your doctor and see what he/she says.

I'm just luking from the parentsplace message boards, looking for some help w/depression for my husband..he just started xanax and I don't know much about this drug.
Anyway....the reason I'm replying to your post is that I have been taking Lamictal for 5 years because I suffer from a seizure disorder. I haven't had a rash at all, the weight gain was minimal, I was tired at first, and had a few headaches. Now I'm fine with it...you have to make sure you take folic acid with it because it can affect your liver, so you also have to check your levels regularly. Plus it decreases you folic acid level's naturally found in your body,so if you are of child-bearing age, you need to up it.
I take 500 mg. a day, have been up to 700mg at one time, as low as 200..when I was pregnant, 100..Ryan is a healthy, beautiful baby boy, so as far as I know and was told, Lamictal is very safe. It's a relatively new drug, but has good results.
Best of luck..I had itchy rashes from Depakote, I think that is an anti-depressant as well.
Hope you are feeling better soon!
Thanks,
Bev
