Weaning off Paxil

Hi everyone, its been a while since I've been here. I have been feeling better and I believe I am ready to stop the paxil. I am going to see a therapist and work on my issues. My question is about going off the Paxil. Since my doc is away and I haven't picked a therapist yet I'm not sure how I should go off it. The last few days I have been alternating when I take it, I take on every second day, then next week I'll go to every thrid day and so on. Is this a good idea? I am terrified of withdrawal syptoms. My doc said I should do it this way when I talked to him before he went away. Will I go nuts from side effects? Any input would be greatly appreciated and without the support from the chats/boards I don't think I would feel better. Thanks everyone!

P.S. I am on one 25 mg pill per day, I'm not able to cut them in half

It might be a good idea to go even slower than that; I think my therpist suggested going down every 10-14 days. Here is a link to an article about Paxil withdrawal; you will have to cut and paste it into your address bar.
