Not sure if I am in the right place.....

Three weeks ago yesterday, I lost my youngest--#3, at the age of 17 months after a very long struggle with a congenital heart defect, and multiple instances of medical negligence. I have a seven year old and three year old and a husband who I am trying to stay strong for and with. It seems from the titles of the discussions that this is more for chronic depression than my current situation. Is this true?

I am so sorry for your loss. I am a pediatrician (first Peds GI, now developmental peds) and have worked with numerous families who have suffered the loss of a child and have dealt with the stress of raising a child with a chronic illness. I am sad to hear that negligence occurred as well.

There is a Bereavement and Grief Board - if you go to iVillage health's message board, it is listed there somewhere. But you are absolutely welcome here as well. Yes, we talk about depression, but we also talk about other things occurring in our lives, in particular, family issues, which may pertain to you.

Trying to be strong for your family can be very stressful and not allow you to grieve yourself, which you need to do. Please take care of yourself as well your family.

peace and love,
