Hi all,

When I was 17 I started having problems with anxiety and depression and at one point was told I was experiencing 'depersonalization' where you feel disattached or unreal.

(((Christine))) What time of the day are you taking your meds? Wellbutrin can have an energizing effect on people. (Which in your case may feel like anxiety) It can cause sleep problems...meaning people can't sleep. I was under the impression that people take it in the morning, and it makes us depressed folks feel more alert. Perhaps talk to your doc about dosage. Maybe you can be on a lower dose and that will make the anxiety feelings less. Or you can increase your dose slower, if you are just starting out on it.

Just my non-doctor opinion. I am slightly well versed on most meds, being that I have tried almost all of them. lol

Sending hugs and good thoughts your way.

Take care,

Lisa-)

I have depersonalization when I am in the "down" side of my Bi-Polar & it is VERY hard to deal with & especially to get people to understand that you're really unsure of the things that are going on around you... Very strange & hard to deal with, but my meds. help immensely...

I also experienced this off and on from the time I was 16 until I was about 25 or 26. I always thought of it like seeing the world through a window, or like I was watching a movie going on around me. It's very creepy and scary; and at the time I had no idea what was going on, but I thought it was caused by something physical and saw all kinds of doctors, none of which ever figured out what was wrong. At times I thought I was crazy and was too afraid to say anything for fear someone would think I was nuts.

It seemed to go away completely when I became pregnant with my son and it has never come back, no matter how bad my anxiety or depression got. Maybe it was something hormonal that pregnancy straightened out.

Do mention this to your doctor. It may be the medication doing it and it can be adjusted or changed to eleviate this problem. Good luck.

I'm sorry that so many other people have dealt with this but it makes me feel a lot better to know I'm not alone.
