Lexapro - insomnia, anxiety

This post is with regards to medicine for depression. Lexapro seems to help, but it also keeps me up at night, and I had a panic attack today. I haven't had a panic attack in months. This is just starting since I've begun taking Lexapro. Has anyone else had this experience?

you bet!

my pdoc had me try Lexapro instead of Celexa because it supposedly had less side effects - not so!

i am really sensitive to all the SSRIs - they all give me anxiety and sometimes panic attacks (Zoloft did that!)

So we changed to Celexa and I tolerated it much better than the Lexapro!

Hi

Lexapro helped me with anxiety and didn't seem to cause it.

patients who have been on celexa, and the drug plans make them switch to lexapro.... some have found that lexapro makes them feel jittery. they may have to lower the dose or just start at a lower dose, and then titrate up slowly.

some have to go back to celexa.

taking it in the morning is the best time, but, again, at a teeny dose, at first.

all ssri's should be started at a teeeeny dose and worked up.

even zoloft, a standard, can make patients jittery, but lexapro has made many patients jittery, includiing me.

i'm not on anything now.

but, at one time, i was put on lexapro, after being on celexa.

2 yrs. ago, when it first came out.

I am also on Lexapro. It seems to work ok, but what really helps is the Lamictal I am taking. That's something you may want to look into. It helps with the anxiety and I've never had a problem falling asleep on it, and I've had some sleep problems. My Doc wants me to go on something new (starts with a "b" but I can't remember the name) that supposedly works really well with it.

I hope this helps
