Feeling Down
| Sat, 11-06-2004 - 11:42am |
I am three months pregnant. I have been feeling down, tired, and out of it. I am normally a happy outgoing person. I have no one to talk to and I feel so alone. I don't want to speak to my boyfriend because I don't want to worry him. That is why I am here. I am hoping to find someone to connect with. I should feel happy right? My biggest stressor of all is I haven't told my parents yet. I am not sure how I am to do this since we are only planning our engagement now... I am a teacher and I haven't even wanted to go to work or grade papers or anything....:(

((((Hugs))))
I think that getting pregnant is very stressful on anyone, and since you have not shared the (presumably) good news with your parents, it must be even more stressful for you. From the tone of your post, I assume your boyfriend is supportive of you, and I congratulate you on getting engaged in the near future. I wonder if you are happy that you are pregnant? Is this something to be celebrated, or are you uncertain if this is the right time for you? I know I got pregnant at 20, and my boyfriend left me immediately upon hearing the news. I of course was depressed by the whole thing, but the worst part was feeling unprepared for the arrival of my DD. I am happy to say that things have worked out well; I am now married and would not give up one moment with my little one for the world. My point is that maybe the surprise (if you were surprised) is playing a part in how you feel.
I also know that carrying a child is a BIG change for your body. A lot of times I felt my body was betraying me through the pregnancy, because it would want things or not want things that my mind was totally against. Silly cravings, tiredness, not being able to sleep at night, morning sickness, etc. All these could also have an effect on how you feel.
I would say that you should share how you feel with your boyfriend. He may be able to give you some emotional support or help you find the reasons why you feel this way.
Men can sometimes surprise us with sensitivity.
Of course if you are feeling like you are going to hurt yourself or the little one I urge you to get help. If nothing else call 911 and they will send someone to help.
I wish the best for you and hope things work out great....keep us posted!
Hi and Welcome
The hormones and stress of pregnancy will have your emotions all over the place for the next 9 months hun and I dont think trying to keep it from your boyfriend will help.
