Effexor and Creativity

Ok, so after asking around here I started to see that people were having similar side effects from Effexor, so I thought I would rephrase the question.
Has anyone experienced loss of creativity on effexor? Has anyone who has gone off effexor had their creativity come back? I'm starting to consider trying to go off my medication (something that i would have to do with my doctors help of course) if it means i get my creativity back.

Hi Katarina,
I took Effexor for several years, and I did find it helpful for my depression. As you may know, everyone reacts to a medication differently...do you feel like the Effexor is helping your depression at all?
To answer your question about creativity, I didn't notice a significant change in mine while on Effexor...actually, I think it helped me be more active in creative pursuits (mainly photography for me) because I wasn't so horribly depressed.
I think creativity is hard to define, though, so it may be difficult to find a clear answer to your question. What kind of creative work do you do? I hope you do find out something that helps you make a decision about the medication...definitely see what your doctor thinks.
Hugs,
Rose
thanks rose.
I used to write. quite a bit. Now i have trouble getting anything out. I used to have trouble actually "writing" while i was depressed, but i had great ideas. Now, I'm ready and raring to go, but have no ideas.
The medication has been excellent for my depression. But I'm hoping I can find a tolerable medium between creativity and depression relief.
I'm going to bring it up with my doctor the next time i see her.
