Maximum Prozac dosage?

Does anyone know what the maximum dosage of Prozac your doctor can prescribe you is? I'm currently taking 30 mg daily, and I started out at 20 mg. My doctor said that he didn't think he would ever prescribe me more than 60 mg. Does the maximum dosage depend on the person or is there a certain maximum dosage for everyone? I'm hoping that my doctor will raise my dosage again. Thanks for your help!

I believe that the maximum doses are probably posted on the actual meds website. Try googling it. I have been on some extraordinary-ily high doses. I metabolize meds quickly. I had some of the best docs in the country working on me, and I was on twice the recommmended doses of some meds. My point is, is that you can go pretty high on most of the meds without harm. Provided you are under the care of an excellent doc.

If your doc feels higher is not cool, then he/ she has her reasons. It could be that it is not the right med for you. There are so many really good meds out there right now, you never know what will work.

Good luck.
Keep us posted.
Sending hugs and good thoughts your way.
Take care,

Thanks for the information! I'm going to talk to my doctor about it. Sometimes I really wish that he would even just take me off of Prozac because I think that it would be easier for me to lose weight if he did. I'm just feeling so angry and frustrated with myself today. I'm back at college and I keep my nice, digital scale here because I'm live in my dorm for most of the year, and I didn't like the numbers that I saw today at all. I'm just so angry and frustrated with myself.
