Am I being childish?

I posted recently that my oldest friend (we've known each other 33 years!) cancelled her annual Thanksgiving dinner because her stepdaughter and SD's partner refused to come if I was there (they said I'd been callous about partner's illness, which wasn't a bit true).

so sorry about someone special or someones special not attending ur
t'giving celebration. it certainly must hurt.
my own sister gave some lame excuse, as always, for not attending.
she is a piece of work.
i bend over backwards for her, making certain to serve the right foods for her,
to make certain that everyone will get along w/ her, which surely ain't ez.
she cancelled again w/ some lame excuse.
it hurts us all.
my mom has made excuses for her for her entire life for getting out of her
responsibilities. so, she continues to do the same, and my mom continues to make
excuses for her rude behavior.
so, that is that...c'est la vie.
i know that i should not invite her anymore,, but i know that i shall.
now, as far as u r concerned, try to clear the air.
find out what they feel that u did that wz so awful.
i'm sure that u must have doted over the partner's "illness" as best as u could.
and i'm sure when u have been depressed, that they have doted over ur illness
equally, ahem ahem, i'm certain.
try to clear the air, for the sake of ur godchildren. best words ever spoken,
"u r right." try it it may hurt, but it may work.
and good luck.
boy, ppl r stubborn now-a-days, rn't they??

If I were in your shoes I would be hurt to the core too.
(((((Trac))))), it's no better on the West Coast.
You are not over-reacting Mary. It was pretty mean if you ask me especially since you've been friends for so long, friends are supposed to be there no matter what. i hope you feel better soon. Take care my friend. (((((HUGS HUGS HUGS))))).
