I have been on effexor for about a month and a half. It seemed as though it was going to work, but now I am having big problems again and going to a new phy. as soon as I can get in. I have tried everything it seems, I don;t know if there is anything out there that will work.

HI, I will be on Effexor XR 2 years come the end of this January. It has really helped with my depression and anxiety with minimal side effects.

But there are many drugs at there as we are all different, so I hope you find the right one for you. Take care, Josie.

I have been on effexor for over two years and it has worked well with my body chemistry. But I went through all the SSRI's before coming to find the effexor helped. Each person's chemical make-up reacts differently to the meds. They may just need to adjust your dosage or they may try you on another med. Don't give up! And good luck!

I was on Effexor and it helped but also made me feel very jittery and on edge all the time. I stayed on the Effexor but added Remeron. Not only did it balance out the keyed-up feelings, but I started to feel calm, collected, able to handle whatever happened. I unfortunately was without health insurance for several months, but I've gotten back on these 2 meds as of last week, and already I feel great. I really feel like I've gotten my equilibrium back- if I ever had it in the first place. I did try Paxil before which did very little for me.

When you say you've tried everything, do you mean you've tried other meds? Definitely keep experimenting to see what fits you best. Are you also going to counseling or other therapy? Is there something causing you to stress out or have problems? Whatever it is, I hope you find your solution.
