If you read my last post...you know that I like movies and they can trigger episodes of depression. Today though...I saw one that I really liked. "He loves me, He loves me not"....it's a French film with Audrey Tautou...I have this fear that I am insane or going crazy. That's just how depression makes me feel...after watching this film, I realize I am not insane...just depressed. I feel alot better. Could be due to the fact that I took my medication this morning...anyway...If anyone else feels like I do (fear of going crazy) please look into this movie. You'll realize soon enough how sane you really are. It's a great feeling.

PS. Another great movie: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. LOVE IT!

I haven't seen that movie with Audrey Tatou, but I loved Amelie, and the director has a new movie out (also with her): Un long dimanche de fiancailles (A Very Long Engagement). Apparently, it has some sad moments b/c it's about a woman looking for her fiance who went missing in WWI, but overall it's supposed to be uplifting; it's had very good reviews.

I also liked "Eternal Sunshine"; it had lots of funny moments. I loved when he was a little boy hiding under the kitchen table! So much like my ds: "She's busy! She's not paying attention to me!"

Have you seen "Love Actually"? I loved it and it's a nice Christmas movie. Romantic but British, so not too sucky.

Thanks for the suggestion,
Nicola

I love movies, and especially comedies at times like these. So instead of watching the traditional holiday movies this weekend with my mom, I'm renting "Mixed Nuts" with Steve Martin - it is a great take on the holidays and is really funny!

I saw the Audrey Tatou movie in the theatre. I agree after seeing he loves me, he loves me not, I am convinced I am depressed not insane :) I really liked Pretty Dead Things with Audrey Tatou also. However, THIS IS ONE MOVIE THAT can be very depressing.

I always go back to my old favorites like "Bishop's Wife with Cary Grant" and "It's A Wonderful Life with Jimmy Stewart". I hate to admit it but even now when I watch the Christmas Carol, I still cry when Scrooge wakes up and loves life after so many years of misery.

Merry Christmas!!

I saw the trailer for A Very Long Engagement when I went to see "What the bleep do we know?" ((an AWESOME movie if you are into documentaries/science/spirituality...I highly recommend it))

I am sooo looking forward to A Very Long Engagement. I also loved Amelie...her love interest is sooo adorable!

Some other rental suggestions from me:

Monsoon Wedding
Life is Beautiful (Roberto Begnini)
High Fidelity
Muriel's Wedding
Sliding Doors
Bridget Jones' Diary

And for a blast from the past:

Savannah Smiles...I LOVE this movie!!!

PS "Eternal Sunshine" makes me so sad. But the filmwork is friggin' awesome. The parts about him as a little boy just kill me. I guess because I have this huge fear that my depression is affecting my 4 yo in a negative way. I don't want my son to grow up thinking remembering his mom as a neurotic and depressed individual. Anyhoo, that's another post for another time...Paxil is helping.

Merry Christmas,

That's awesome mumontherun...if you see any interesting ones out at the video store let me know. I'm ALWAYS looking for good movies!!

Savannah Smiles is from the 70's I think. It's pretty old. It's about this little rich girl who is kidnapped by these guys who are holding her for ransom. The kidnappers end up falling in love with her because she so sweet/cute. She loves them because they pay more attention to her than her parents do. It's very sappy, sweet and sad. We used to watch it in school on the last day of school. It used to make me cry then, and it makes me cry every time I watch it. *sigh* Good times...good times...
