How do you cope after an emotional day?
| Wed, 12-29-2004 - 7:05pm |
I thought it would be nice to share the different things we do to release the negative emotions we have.
I'll go first..some things that help me feel better are
1. a warm bath
2. watching a light hearted movie
3. walking the dogs
4. doing a tae bo video
5. baking cookies
Stacey

What a good post, Stacey...thanks! I can't think of many things that I do regularly to help me cope, maybe because my day never really seems to end (there's always studying to do or meetings to go to, and I'm usually working on school stuff off and on til at least midnight). When I had a regular 9-to-5 job, I used to make a cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows once I got home and sit down and watch some silly TV (like Oprah or Trading Spaces) and read the paper.
Now I do come and check these boards, which is relaxing...and occasionally if I have a chance, I'll watch some late-night comedy shows...and I do try to exercise regularly (I was attending a yoga class this semester that really helped my stress levels). I'm sure I need to try to incorporate more relaxing things into my schedule, though!
Edit: Stacey, I looked at your list to see if I could try to adopt any of your habits... but I don't have a kitchen or a VCR (or cable TV, for that matter), can't have pets, and have only a community shower instead of a bathtub! (Ah, the joys of living in a dorm again!). I do miss long baths particularly...but I will have to try to think of some other things I guess, at least until I get my own apartment again! (which may not be for a few years...)

Great idea Stacey!
I myself try to get out for a walk especially in the woods. Or if I cant do that, I pick up the phone and call a friend to get my mind off things.
*hugs
What a great idea!
The thing that helps me the most is to journal.
