Hi everyone,
I am 31 years old and have been struggling with depression pretty bad lately. Can't sleep, nauseated, heart beating fast, etc. I have been diagnosed with general anxiety, bipolar disorder, seasonal affective disorder and post traumatic stress disorder.
Right now I am on Risperdal 1mg, Valium 5 mg three times a day and a pain medicine, I also have fibromyalgia and endometriosis along with some other medical problems.
I think the seasonal affective disorder is hitting me hard and I don't know how to cope.
Also we had a flood this past November and it has been raining alot and eveerytime the flood warning comes out, I panic!
I just wanted to introduce myself and explain a little about my situation and see if anyone had any suggestions as to medicines that may work better, etc? I've been on quite a few, Lexapro to name one but I can't remember them all.
I look forward to hopefully getting to know all of you and make some friends that understand what I am going through. Thanks in advance!
Kelly

hi, welcome,
r u also seeing some therapist for cognitive behavior modification therapy?
u must be on a ton of meds, poor thing.
there r many ssri's lexapro is one of them.
some ppl have found that paxil and lexapro, although they r supposed to be anti-anxiety meds, have some sort of anxiety side effect.
dunno if that's what is happening to u.
check w your p/doc, and see if he wants to change u to another ssri, like celexa
or zoloft, less activating.
talk to him and tell him what is bothering u

as a medical professional myself, I need to ask--why are you on Valium? Did your physician try a lot of other things first and is that the only thing that has helped for you? I just think it's a very drastic measure for someone unless a lot of other avenues have already been tried.
Also, did a regular physician prescribe those meds for you or an actual psychiatrist? Believe it or not...there is a big difference in how they prescribe.
Hope this helps!
Jen
Hello kitties,
Thank you for your response. I am currently seeing a therapist who is working with me on a few things, but I've had to cancel a few times because of illness. I just talked to her Tuesday and she resheduled me, she advised me to see my family doctor (he's the one that's treating me for depression and everything)
I've tried everything you've mentioned except zoloft. Maybe that would be worth a try.
Thanks for listening!
Hugs,
Kelly
Hello Jen,
I forgot to mention that I also have Menieres Disease, that is why they put me on valium, but it also started out helping calm me down also.
Yes, I have tried many medicines and he will probably switch me again when I tell him what's going on and that these meds. don't seem to be helping.
My family doctor is the person that prescribes all of my medicines. My ENT specialist suggested the valium but wanted me to ask my family doctor because of all the medicines I was already on and he prescribed it for me.
Thanks for the advice!
Hugs,
Kelly
