My psychiatrist prescribed Remoren for me. I took it for the first time on Wednesday nite. I hadn't slept much the nite before and was working on about 4 hours sleep. I knocked out about 30 minutes after taking it. I woke up at my normal time the next morning but feeling very "foggy"...I was foggy all day long. I couldn't think straight, I couldn't function well. I decided to wait and see before calling the doctor. The next morning I felt not quite so foggy, but foggy nonetheless. Friday nite, I stayed with my mother...I slept really well and woke up less foggy still. It seems to be getting better, but it takes me a lot longer to get started in the morning. I don't like that one bit. I'm a mom and time is precious. I'm thinking I'll give it one more week and then if I'm not feeling better I'll call the psychiatrist.
My best friend called today. He asked how things were going and when I was honest, he proceeded to tell me that I just need to change the way I think. Duh! Does he not think I have not tried that? I told him I had tried that and he essentially told me I was not trying hard enough. I know he means well. Okay...didn't intend to throw that in, but I just had to get it off my chest.

Good to hear from you...I also hope that your sleepiness will go away with time. I had the same experience on Remeron...I probably didn't give it a fair trial, since I took it for less than a week...I imagine the drowsiness would have gotten better after a while. Your plan to call your psychiatrist after a week sounds like a good idea.
Sorry about what your friend said! I've heard similar things so many times, and it's always so frustrating...sometimes people who haven't "been there, done that" don't have a very accurate idea of depression. Of course positive thinking can help, but it's not always that easy!
Hope you start feeling better,
Rose
