I'd definitely check out the bipolar board. It's a great place with some very caring people. I know you're going to therapy and group therapy but you might also check out the Depression Bipolar Support Alliance. The website is dbsalliance.org. Check to see if they have a group in your area. I run a group thru DBSA and it's all peer-led. Just remember, you are not your disorder.

I was diagnosed last March as bipolar too. I have a mild case, and I experience mostly depressive episodes. Every person's experience with the disorder and the way it manifests itself in each person is different. I was a compulsive shopper and put my family at risk financially.

It's great that you are getting help and are on meds. I know that I will probably need my meds for the rest of my life. I guess the best advice I can give from my experience is to figure out what triggers your episodes and be very conscientious about dealing with those triggers.
