That's a good plan, and I know you can do it. :-)

Will you be or have you ever kissed the blarney stone? i have heard that can be very taxing. It is a dream of mine to one day go. i have distant relatives in NW Ireland, all the way at the top.
I have the same needs as you as far as overall health. I do take "fairly" good care of my self in that I take a number of supplements that have consistently kept me way from serious problems like the flu and stomach bugs (Hard to do with two little girls). I am going to start to exercize again (treadmill, situps) and I am going to start a new weight loss supplement program I just heard about to go along with my exercize. i know that this will help me to feel better about myself overall.
I wish you well. keep us informed on your progress.

Mary, my grandmother took a trip to Europe with my parents a few years back, when she was in her 80s (she's 91 now), and she kissed the Blarney Stone! She was bound and determined to do it. She had to have a little help, of course, but no way was she going to miss out.

Have a Guinness for me. If you don't drink, then buy it for someone else in my honor. :-)

sounds like a great plan to get in better shape! i wish i could go to ireland myself. it's one of my dreams to visit several countries, but ireland is very close to the top. i have irish blood way back there, and i say it still counts even if it did get diluted. LOL.
the grandma's who have done lineage say i have primarily german, english (blah), and irish blood, so yep that makes for one strong tolerance to alcohol when i choose to have some! LOL. that doesn't happen anymore, having a baby changes everything, so they say...
when you go, take lots of pics to share so we can all pretend we saw those beautiful sites right with ya!

Mary,

Believe me you are not the only one that needs to get in shape! (hint hint I do too.)

I had to tell you a pretty funny story though. A friend of mine went with her husband to Ireland for their anniversary. My friend and her husband were in their mid forties. Their entire travel group was in their 70's and 80's. My friend thought how will they keep up with us? Well, the joke was on my friend. Turns out the "elderly" travelers could power walk up a storm. My friend spent most of her time huffing and puffing along with her husband trying to keep up. My friend was so embarassed to always be the straggler at the end of the line!

Good luck and it is great you are starting early. The first time I went to my ancestral homeland, I felt I went to paradise. Hopefully you will too.

S.
