Can I ask a question?

What are you all doing to help yourselves get out of depression?
I'm not being sarcastic or anything so don't get me wrong, I myself am suffering from it right now and would like to know.

Hi and Welcome!
Its a good question Diva and one we ask each other ever day.

(((((Diva))))), I'm in therapy with a wonderful therapist.
Thank you all for replying so far.
I'm confused about depression in many ways. I've been doing alot of research on it and am reading a book that seems to make sense so far plus I just started seeing a therapist.
Do you think it's caused by situations or by thinking habits?
Welcome, depression can be caused by a variety of things, situations, thinking, even body chemistry.

All the advice already given is great. For me, what helped the most was meditation. Not only did it allow me to actually relax mentally, but it allowed me to identify my "negative self-talk." Yeah, sounds a bit wishy-washy, but negative self-talk is the bad things you programmed yourself to replay inside your head on certain cues, and it's such a habit that you hardly notice it and you end up brainwashing yourself. For example, whenever I got frustrated I would tell myself I was stupid/useless/pathetic/etc., and I didn't realize it until I meditated. After I figured out what I said to myself automatically and when that mental recording would kick in, I could catch it before it really got rolling and replace it with positive thoughts, like: *deep breath* "It's not the end of the world, everything will be alright, just take a few minutes and calm down." After a couple of months, the negative stuff was replaced with positive. Not easy, but SO worth it!
For the record, when I say meditate, I mean sitting quietly with my eyes closed and letting thoughts pass through my head without actually THINKING them. It's a lot harder than it sounds, and it takes a while to figure it out (I find it helps to concentrate on my breathing - in, out, in, out), but it honestly made a HUGE difference.
Anyhow, I hope this helps a bit. Good luck!
