Are u on Lexapro?

Hello everyone- I just started Lexapro today and i am sooooooo tired. Today is my first day and its making me feel a little nausea and my hands are a bit sweaty. I sort of feel neutral though...i know they say you dont really feel the effect until about a week or two but i feel kinda excited right now...Has anyone experienced anything like this? Any thoughts or comments about Lexapro would be appreciated. I would like to know what others are experiencing since this is my first time using this. Also does your sex drive go down/ I really hope not :(
Thanks Guys!

I just started it too! This is my first week and I love it. I haven't been tired at all. How many mgs are you taking? My doc started me off at 5 mg. Are you taking it in the AM or PM? I'm taking mine in the AM but would switch to PM if it made me tired.
Is this your first anti-depressant? Maybe my body is used to the side effects and that's why I'm not sleepy. I was on Prozac 20 mg for years and just switched to this drug because the Prozac seems to have lost it's punch. But I remember when I first started Prozac (years ago) I was soooo sleepy and in bed by 7 pm. It will pass--your body just needs to adjust. (or maybe you're on too high a dose??)
The nausea will pass. I kinda liked it tho, cuz I lost weight. :)
I'm in a good mood too! I seem to be less reactive to the normal BS in the office and more mellow.
I go back to the shrink for an evaluation next week and I'm wondering if she'll keep me on 5 mg or raise me to 10mg?? I guess I'll find out!
I had tried Lexapro and was not too happy with it, I felt the side effects and often times it made me a little anxious as well as tired which was such a weird combo, I am now taking Celexa and like it ALOT better, I do not get tired or anxious at all, just a thought...J
I started Lexapro a few weeks before you all did. I'm curious to see how you are doing on it now, after a few weeks have gone by. Personally, I don't think I noticed any changes at all. I have been on various anti-depressants for several years now, so maybe that's why I didn't have a whole lot of side effects. I'm also taking xanax at the same time, temporarily. My depression is mainly situational right now, caused by a major breakup, so maybe it's just something drugs aren't going to help. I was on 10 mg at first, and my psych. upped it to 20 last week because I didn't feel any different.

As for the sex drive, my went crazy. My therapist said it is b/c of being depressed but with the lexapro it made my sex drive come back. The bad thing was trying to have the big "O". Once I stopped lexapro the big "O" came back....lol.
Anyways give it some time to see if you really like it. Good luck
Hi---I am on lexapro too. I have been on 10mg for about 3 weeks. So far it is working well for me. I dont notice any side effects. I am going through some relationship problems right now. I have been depressed for about a year and just recently got up enough nerve to do something about it.

Hi there!
I have been on Lexapro (started on 10 mg, for a while was on 20 mgs, but back on 10 mgs), for a little over two years. Before this, I tried A LOT of different drugs similar to it(Prozac, Zoloft, Celexa, Luvox, Welbutrin, Paxil), in addition to Xanax, Trazadone, and various sleeping agents. For me, this has been the best by far. I love it. I did experience some significant fatigue and nausea in the first month or so, but it did go away. For a while, because of some stress I was experiencing, my doc increased the dose to 20 mg, and again, the fatigue came back. We split the dose to 5 mg in am, 15 mg at night, and that did the trick at the time. I now take 10 mg in the am, with not fatigue or nausea.
I am back down to 10 mg, and have no problems at all. That being said, I did not tolerate other meds well that work wonders for others. Some of them made me so sick, I had to be hospitalized for dehydration. Some of them made me hyper-manic. So I truly believe that although these meds are similar, each person is different and each med can cause different side effects/responses in any given person. For me, Lexapro has truly been a life saver, and the fatigue and nausea did go away after a month or so. In any event, you should keep your doc informed of your side effects.
Hope this helps,
Christine
