Just wanted to update for those who replied to my very sad posts a couple months back.
My insurance finally decided it was going to cover a psychiatrist for me. I have seen her twice, and have a 3rd appt this week. She has put me on lamotrigine. I started out at 12.5 mg/day, because she said it's been known to have severe side effects, so she wants to go slow. Our current target dose is 200 mg/day. I'm currently at 75 mg/day. The only side effect I'm having is that I'm constantly tired, which sucks, but she says it'll pass. I hope so.
She's also treating my anxiety disorder, using .5mg Klonopin as needed. She says I can take a max of 2mg/day, but the most I've needed was 1mg during this mandatory meeting my DH's division had (he's in the military, divisions are huuuuuuuuge, and social situations are when I have the most issues).
She also diagnosed me with a REM-cycle sleep disorder, but I'm drawing a blank on what it's called. For the past several years, I have had these middle-of-the-night "episodes". I have to take my husband's word for it, because I don't remember them, but he says they're sometimes violent, sometimes really depressive, but always unpredictable and totally random. There's no rhyme or reason to them. The psychiatrist said there's really not much that can be done about it, but the Klonopin may help.
Anyway, I left the clinic I was at, because I am not comfortable being seen by a dr who doesn't listen to their patients. I'm working on getting into a dr on base, so hopefully that works out.

Good to see an update from you Amy! How is the Klonopin working for your anxiety? I am on the lowest dose of Xanax for mine. I got really confused as to when the situation warrants taking it. I explained to my dr an episode and she is like "thats when!". Now I know.
Keep posting with us! It is nice to see some "old" faces around as well as the new ones : )
Klonopin is actually working quite well for me! It doesn't remove all the stress of the situation, but it makes it manageable.
At my last appt, my psych added 10mg Celexa to my regime (building up to 20mg). We're stopping at 75-100mg for the lamotrigine, because I'm already feeling like most people would at 200mg. She said it's actually a good thing that a lower dose works for me, because I have more room to go up if needed. She also gave me Lunesta for sleep, taken as needed.
Anyway, I'll update more later. I'm off to spend time with my DH.
