hi i have posted on and off and always checked in, and i was wondering since the chat option isnt any longer available does anyone know of any online support groups or online chats for mental health? i've looked and not really found anything. if anyone knows of anything that could be accessed any time of day or where there are usually people around that is what i am looking for. i was going to start to post here again too but there are so many moments during the day where i need to get in touch with someone. i am also looking for something local where i can actually go to during the day but outside of 12 step support groups there really isnt anything for people with mental health issues. anyone know???

Gosh, Sara, I really don't know. The only thing that comes to mind for me is for you to call your local mental health department and make an inquiry.

Hi Sara,

Have you called around to various mental health agencies and asked about depression support groups.

thank you so much heidi, that would be great. i like that i can come here and communicate with people who understand. i am pushing away my friends and it hurts so bad i cant be myself around them. losing people is one thing, losing them bc of who you are is another thing altogether...

msp1234 - Tell your friends what is going on and that it is not personal against them.

deb

i will try and be more open-it's something my dr and i have been working on me doing and i have given it a shot once or twice. it is hard to find the balance btw. opening up the stuff they dont want to hear and telling them things that bother me or i want them to know. so that is what is hard. but yesterday i tried it-my best friend has been more distant with me lately and he has a lot more going which makes it hard to see each other, but he has been shutting me out when he has time to hang out and hanging out with other people instead. that hurts me really badly and i actually told him. but i said it in a good way-like how i have missed him lately and if he has time to hang out with other people he should not hesitate to invite me(he has been leaving me out of things bc he knows how hard it is for me to handle being around a lot of people, etc. so he is just looking out for me which is nice). but i told him i am not as fragile as i once was and i would like him to include me more when it isn't just the two of us bc i miss him. he responded well actually and said some things that surprised me about me including him in sharing my emotions, etc. so that was amazing. hopefully i can keep it up...
