Recently I tried st johns wort for depression I was going through (not clinical but situational). After a week I felt so much better, significantly happier with a more vivacious positive outlook. Then a few days later I started getting headaches. I've never been one to get headaches so I know it could only be due to the st johns. The benefit of the way it gave me a jump start so to speak is very worth it. Now I keep some on hand in case I'm feeling down. A week is the perfect amount of time to take it (for me) and then discontinue. After I stopped it, I continued to feel 'better' and the headaches that came on at the end went away.

Anyway, I just wanted to post this in case there is someone out there wondering if st johns would help them.

(p.s.- I bought the brand, Kira. Apparently not all st johns is effective in the same way. This company did clinical tests of their own which showed good results.)

I have not tried St. John's wort; my husband takes a variety of supplements (not that one) and he says they do help.

I don't think you're suppose to take st johns if you're on other SSRIs. It would conflict with your prescribed dosage. (I'm not on any other supplement or rx for depression.)
