Last week, I posted a "challenge" of sorts. I would like you to post at least one daily accomplishment that you feel good about. It can be as small as sweeping the floor, going to lunch with a friend, whatever - just something that you've done that you see as a positive thing.
For me, it's important to have to actually say - today, I did this. Seeing it in print, makes it more real. Also knowing that I have to post something, gives me a little incentive to do something. Honestly, today I wouldn't have done anything but go to church, nap and grade papers. Since I needed an accomplishment to post, I picked something real easy - I cleaned my hall bath. It's only used when my grown daughters are home and they will be home soon for Thanksgiving so it needed doing. Since it's not used much, it wasn't very dirty and didn't take long to do it. But it is an accomplishment and it got my rear off this couch!!
Deb has been very good about posting a daily accomplishment but I would really like to see what some of the rest of you are up to. Who knows, you might inspire me to do something new and interesting.
Have a good week!

In these economically challenged times, do you think we need a Repair Manifesto?
That is a superbe idea! When I am depressed or going through a difficult period in my life (or both), I usually do the "just one big thing" rule. Everyday, I would do one big thing that I get to cross off from my list. That's it. I could spend the rest of the day sobbing, crying, sleeping, walking or whatever, but I would have to have completed that one big thing.
Yesterday my one big thing should have been an interview, but the person I was supposed to interview wasn't there at the time we had agreed to so I'm going to push that over to today (I'm in Asia, it's already 4 in the morning right now). As it turns out my one big thing yesterday was helping a friend stay grounded and focused as she went through a very difficult and stressful time.
I can't imagine not leaving my house.
All my financial statements for several months back are sitting in a pile in my kitchen - unopened.
For me, I don't even try to do one big thing - if I can just spend a little time on something I've put off, that's huge to me.
Well, "big" is also subjective. I suffer from anxiety attacks which are fairly much paralyzing if I am not on top of it so the one thing a day really helps. I tell myself that I can run around like a chicken without a head the rest of the day but I need to set aside time to do this one thing.
Of course, being a procrastinator, sometimes I am also good at putting things off... So I gather that your kids didn't quite agree to pushing their birth date a few more days huh?
My one big thing today are actually two big things. I did part of my banking errands, and I finally contacted the lady for an interview. I am going to try to add a couple of biggies today, so that I can slack off on Friday and enjoy a long week-end.

Has the recession really led us to make do instead of just throw away?
