can't get over son/girlfriend break up

It seems so silly and shallow but I am so depressed about the break-up of my son and his girlfriend. They went out for 8 years since he was 17 and she was 15.  At times I wanted them to break up because there were some very nasty fights but when it really happened in June I've been so sad. My son is now 26 he is still studying. She wanted a commitment that he couldn't give.  I worry about my son's future. He is an only child and we do not have family in the state where we live. I hoped for a nice life for him and his ex-girlfriend. She's a wonderful girl and my son is the greatest. He seems to handle the break-up much better than me. What is wrong with me? Has anyone had similiar feelings?

I don't think there is anything wrong with you.

Hi, everyone has different reactions to things and maybe your son grieved over it quicker than you did.

I don't have kids myself, but I just had lunch with a friend last week and her son was dating a girl she really liked, but has ended the relationship and she kidded next time she won't get so attached to who he is dating, but I know her, and she will get attached again in
