anxiety attacks at night

I keep getting these anxiety attacks at night; it's like the world has shut down and I'm tired so now it's time to think about everything I don't want to. I end up taking 1mg of Xanax and 5-10 mg of Ambien out of self-defense but here I am, I still can't sleep. It's like I want to crawl out of my skin. I feel tired, but I just feel like I'm about to explode. I'm in knots. >_< I really can't wait until my doctor's appointment. I think I need a longer acting anti-anxiety medication. I was wanting to try Xanax XR twice a day and maybe see about switching sleep medications.

Usually this doesn't happen. This is the third time it's happened lately at night. Normally I get anxiety during the day sometimes. Now I get it before I go to work really bad to where my hands are shaking. The weird thing is, nothing has changed in work or in my life. Just me, I guess.

It sucks to be awake when everyone else in your house is sleeping. :/

I'm sorry I took so long to answer this. I really appreciate the reply. I went through a rough couple of months readjusting my meds and I just hibernated. I could only deal with work and my family life at home. But I realized I really need to talk with other people who know what I'm going through.

They usually do, thanks. :) I was having a reaction to an increased med for a couple weeks and then I had withdrawals from getting off another for a couple weeks. It's been a rough couple months!
