Depression and diet

Have any of you experienced the impact of diet on depression or bipolar disorder?  I don't drink alcohol at all.  I know my depression gets worse when I eat junk (i.e., sugary, fatty, salty) and gets a bit better if I eat healthful foods.  I also tend to get reflux if I eat things like pizza, which doesn't help depression.  I'm not sure that there is a lot of advice out there on this.  Please comment, thanks!

Hi, Heidi - as a matter of fact, I have indeed heard that the B vitamins help depression.

HI Deb: I take a multivitamin/mineral with breakfast and a separate Vit B complex with supper.

yes, this is true - vitamins from group B as B1, B6, B12 are very good for depression. From time to time I do injections Milgamma which contain all the necessary vitamins from this group, and I feel better.

As to the food, I feel better when I eat sweets. Dieting and healthy eating just worsen my state of mind...
