What do you think of the name Kitty Mae?

I stumbled across this one and think its really cute. I could never convince DH to warm up to it.

Quite cute!

Oh! It's so cute! I love it! How about Katrina Mae? (it might be easier for dh to warm up to that one!) And you can call her Kitty for short! I know 3 Katrina's! One goes by Kat, one Kitty, and the other Trina! That way you know who's who! LOL! Actually, I really like Trina, too! I think that name would be great, it gives your kid options........

I'm partial to Kitty, as it's my nn. :) I've always liked it and I've never met another person who goes by Kitty. Lots of people comment on how much they like it (especially when I was younger), but a few people would look quizzically at me and say, "Kitty?" Like it was very odd. I grew up in a nicknaming family and neighborhood, so I always just figured they didn't. :)

I like it best as a nn for something like Katherine, Katrina, Kate, Kaitlin, Kelsey, etc.

Katherine Margaret, nn Kitty Mae. Or something like that. Maybe your dh would accept Kitty Mae as a nn.

Good luck to you!

I went to school with a Kitty. In HS some boys started calling her "(See Below)" and making meow noises when she would walk by. She then started using Kathleen, her full name.

Other than that, I think that Kitty is cute for a NN. I like Katherine, Kathleen, Katrina and Kaitlin (any of the spellings).

Note: I tried posting my original message and it found a word objectionable and wouldn't let me post. Wow, I've never had that happen to me before. The word that is missing is a 5 letter word starting with a P, next letter U, then two Ss and a Y.

It's cute, but it also sound like a name for a woman in an Old West Saloon...the ringlets, the dolled-up face, the hat...

I wouldn't

The name Kitty makes me think of that character in Dharma and Greg. She's Greg's stuffy, flithy rich, classist mother.

Kitty is ok - I like just Kit more. It's a fresh alternative to Kate/Katie for names like Kathryn, Kathleen, etc. But it is definitely old-fashioned (which can be trendy) -- sort of like calling an Elizabeth "Betty" or "Bess" instead of Liz or Beth.

However, while I really like the name Mae as a fn, or even a mn if it is paired with a more formal fn (like Caroline Mae or something), I think when its the second name in a double name, it gives off a country-bumpkin, "Ellie Mae Clampitt" from the old tv show "The Beverly Hillbillies" sort of vibe. Especially when you have a nicknamey first name paired with it. But that's just my two cents, and I'm sure many disagree.

I agree with all the previous posters and especially the immediate previous one - this should only be a nickname at best and Kitty Mae together sounds like a country bumpkin. there should be a full name she can switch to when she's older.
