Just wondering if there are any fellow e-pals from Pennsy and your thoughts on what names are way too popular right now in the Keystone State? I grew up with a million Jennifers and Amy's and I'm sure every generation has their popular names, etc.

I'm not from Pennsylvania but I am from Southern New Jersey. Are you anywhere near Philly? Btw ... if you go on the Social Security Admin website you can find out which five names for girls and boys were top in your state.

Hmmm...that's interesting! Thanks for the tip. I'm just north of Philly.

I'm in PA - right now I'm hearing an overkill on Madison, Hailey, Emma, Emily, Isabelle, Grace and Olivia, and somewhat on Madeline.

yes, I remember all the Jennifer's and Michelle's. I didn't ever think Amy was overdone though.

in the 80s around here it was Lindsey and in the 90s it was Ashley.

Hi there, Hope, I'm actually not from PA, but I'm looking to relocate to the South Jersey/Philadelphia area (I'm there pretty frequently). It's got me pretty rattled, though, since I can't seem to find employment there... *sigh* I hope you don't mind my asking, but do you happen to have any ideas on any search firms in the area, or do you know of any companies that are hiring?

thanks so much!

I'm in south central PA - west of Harrisburg. I think the names I mentioned pretty much are the ones you'll find at the top in the PA part of the ssa site.

I live in South Jersey. I used to work in Philly. My dh works in Newtown Square, PA. What type of work are you looking for? It's hard to point you in a better direction without some idea of what you might want. Depending on what type of work you want I might be able to tell you some of the bigger name companies in the area.

yeah, I don't know of any firms. I have a friend that works for a firm similar to what you're talking about - but, it's in Harrisburg - not much help for you.

We have good friends that live in Newtown Square. So, you're near one of my favorite towns - New Hope! I love that place!

Wow, Stephanie, thanks so much for the prompt reply! I am looking for a position either in marketing and/or event planning, or HR/Recruiting.

I'm a career counselor at a college, so I have a lot of dealings with college relations managers at organizations, preparing candidates for employment, reviewing and writing resumes, etc.

I also present workshops and develop/coordinate career and networking events.

Obviously, there is a lot of marketing involved, to our various constituents: students, alumni, employers, etc, so I have experience in that area as well. I also love to write, (and have done so for various interdepartmental and external newsletters)! :-)

I'm willing to start in an entry-level position, even if I have experience in the areas that the organization is looking to fill, and I am fully capable of relocating utilizing my own financial resources, so not being a local candidate should not be a problem either.

Any help or ideas you can give would
