I personally am not a fan of hyphenated names, but then it depends on each couple's particular reason for doing it. as far as middle names, it's hard to give you suggestions on those without knowing what first names you are considering. to me, middle names are all about sound and flow, how they verbally go from one to the other.

for instance (and this one is a biggie) - if the accent is on the second syllable of a first name, it will almost never sound right to have the accent on the first syllable of the middle name. it really needs to also be on the second syllable.

another thing to consider is to not have the middle name start with the same letter then first name ENDS with - when you do that, it runs together and sounds all like one word because the tongue does not have time to recover. this is also true of the first name and last name and middle name and last name. it's hard when the last letter of the middle name is the same as the first letter of the last name. ditto for the last letter of the first name and first letter of the last name. and some people forget to sound out what the name will sound like without the middle name - it's important to do that, sound it out both ways - with the middle and without the middle.

sometimes people are really intent on using a family name in the middle regardless of the flow. I can understand that, and a lot of people just are willing to forego the sound in order to keep the name to honor a family member. but I'm seeing a lot of people just using two names from their "list" of first names, like the two they like best or something, and often they just don't go together.

to me, you have to decide on what the first name is going to be first. then you think about a middle name that will go with it.

good luck.

i didnt even notice that i hadnt mentioned the names we had chosen..for a boy we have chosen Dylan and for a girl we have chosen Chloe. We will also most likly end up going with just my boyfriends last name instead of hyphenating it.and that starts with a D and its a french last name.Any ideas for middle names now????

I like Dylan and Chloe - good choices.

Dylan Matthew, Dylan Michael, Dylan Christopher, Dylan Gregory, Dylan Garrett, Dylan Joseph, Dylan Joshua, Dylan Scott, Dylan Thomas, Dylan Trevor, Dylan Benjamin, Dylan Jeffrey, Dylan Marcus, Dylan Conner, Dylan Shawn.

I'd avoid Ds for sure since both first and last will start with D. I'd also avoid any of the ones that end- in, en, an etc. so that it's not repetitive with Dylan.

Chloe Brianne, Chloe Gisele, Chloe Janelle, Chloe Jessica, Chloe Marissa, Chloe Michelle, Chloe Paige, Chloe Renee, Chloe Suzanne, Chloe Sharese, Chloe Janae, Chloe.

my favorites from that list are Gisele, Janelle, Marissa and Michelle. with Chloe I avoided any mns that had long Os as that would have been too repetitive.

good luck.
