I think it sounds nice and very unique, however I think he would probably get made fun of a lot (you know how kids are ... and Dorek = Dork would be irresistable to them). Just something to consider.

it's one letter away from Dork - not a good idea.

I agree with the Dork comment. As much as I love original names, I do stop to think about the possible nn and teasing.

Dorek ... 'Dork' is definetly what first comes to mind. So i wouldnt. I would just go with Derek. I kno a girl named Dorkus but 'Dork' also comes to mind from that name too. But to each his own ... i guess

Also, it could've beenone of those "I-forgot-my-name-tag" things. My boss always had a few name tags w/made up names on them, just so that it looked like they still had one, and also so they still looked professional. And also, we had those "mystery shoppers" all the time, and you got points docked if you didn't have a name tag. So if they got a bad report, all they had to do was look to see who all was working that day at that time and you had to "check out" the name tag, so that way you couldn't try to pass it off on someone else.

It could've been his bosses way of saying he's a dork for forgetting his name tag... Just something to think about.

Of course I immeditley think of Dork as well. That's funny about the name Dorkus that someone posted as well, my DH looked over my shoulder and said "Dorkus, that's Latin for dork" (ha ha).

Seriously, imagine how awful it would be if you did move to a different country and your name was their word for dork?

Audra (hopefully not dork in any language, but who knows?)
