My last period started on may 27th but it was lighter than my average period. When the nurse asked when my lmp was I told her may 27th but am now starting to wonder if maybe it was actually april 27th. I have heard that you can sometimes have a light period in the early months of pregnanacy. What do you think. Any information would be appreciated. do you think that I should bring this up with my doctor or just keep my may 27th date I gave to her?

Also, what made me start to think of this is my waistline is expanding more than expected. I am suppose to be 9 weeks as of yesterday but already I am having trouble buttoning my pants. should this be happening already? it is my first pregnancy.

Thanks for the help.

Okay, it's been a few years, but I am nearly positive I was only about 8w when I started to have trouble buttoning my pants. My LMP was mid-June & I went to the elephant garlic fest with another pg in mid-august & I remember telling her I could barely fit into my pants. So I think I must have been just about as far as long as you when I started to bloat.

Yea, bloat. I don't think I was really gaining weight then, but there does seem to be a lot of bloating all through pg. I believe this is necessary to slowly stretch you belly out -- sort of like a balloon, before blowing it up you give it a few good tugs.

As for the LMP, I believe you told them the right time. Did you have an 8w appt? Did they give you your pelvic? If so & the MW felt you were further along she would have said something or scheduled an u/s. If you haven't had your 1st appt yet, then go ahead & tell them you had a lighter than usual LMP.

CONGRATS!

my first appointment was just a meeting with the nurse to go over certain do's and don'ts. My doctor doesn't do pelvic exams until around 12 weeks so I do not go in until Aug. 24th. I guess I will have to wait and see. thanks for the info

I'd tell them about both periods-- they will start to notice if you measure further along then they expect. Knowing this information might save them some worry/concern- and they might decide to adjust your due date if you are measuring large (when you are actually 4 weeks further along then they expected). The doctors should be able to tell though once they do the measurements at each visit (i.e. I think you are supposed to measure from your pelvic bone to the top of your uterus the # of weeks along you are..) plus an ultrasound will give them an idea of how far along the baby is. So, knowing this info, and the two period dates, would probably be beneficial to all.
