I think of Cohen as a last name. I am glad she paired it with a traditional mn like Michael.

Cohen is a last name but I think it works fine as a first name. It sounds nice with Michael.

I do hope that little boy is tough, as he wide open for all sorts of NN's (and not very nice ones). Cohen is NMS.

I think last names are great first names for little boys! Cohen is not my fav, but it was my BF's last name growing up, so I could live with it. It seems very Jewish though...are they? :P

I never would've thought of using it as a fn.

I think of Cohen being a last name...next, I think of Cohen's Fashion Optical. it's not a first name I would give a child, boy or girl (b/c you never know these days...I'm sure SOMEONE might find Cohen a good name for a girl as well). I think that if the intent is to honor a family member or members, using Cohen in the middle name spot is a great idea!

Cohen is typically a Jewish last name. It's an honored name. I beleive Cohenim are descendents of Aaron and they are given special honors at the temple (Could be wrong about some of this...it's been a while since I was in Hebrew school). For this reason I think it would be a little strange to be Jewish and give your child the first name of Cohen. It's sort of implying something that the person is not (a descendent of Aaron). If the kid was a Cohen then why give the child the first name of Cohen?

But if the kid is not Jewish and they just like the name then there's nothing weird about that. :)
