my husband and I don't know what we're having yet, but we've pretty much narrowed the names down to Adrian Michael for a boy or Avery Josephine for a girl. Do you think these names are unique enough that there won't be another one in kindergarten with mine? and do they sound nice with the last name Johnson?

I think those are nice names that go well w/ your ln. They are probably not terribly unique but I doubt there'd be many others w/ that name as your baby grows. Adrian is one that I haven't heard much of at all here. I think you should go w/ those names.
I think the name combos are really cute however I dont care for the Josephine w/ the Johnson. I agree w/ the last post Avery Elizabeth is also just as cute!! Good Luck

Great names!
I don't care for Avery much to be honest. probably because it is unisex. and I think Josephine is just so old-fashioned. If that's someone you're trying to honor, you could modernize it a little by going with Joelle, Josette, or Joselle as a middle name. much cuter for this era.
since you seem to have both As - here are some other girl names I could suggest besides Avery - Aubrey, Alaina, Amber, Anya (but not the Aine spelling, no one will get it right), Alyssa, Aleya, Ariel.
good luck.
I really like Avery Josephine a lot. I think the names sound find together, and I don't see a problem of using Josephine as middle name with last name Johnson. The only thing is that Avery Josephine, being 3 syllables each, and having a 2 syllable last name, makes for a pretty long name. If you wanted a shorter "J" middle name, I like:
Avery Jill
Avery Jane
Avery Joan
Avery Jean
Avery is probably becoming more popular for girls, but I don't think that it will ever be a top 10 name or suffer from extreme overuse.
But you've chosen really nice names. Good luck!
