wondering if anyone was into the more classic, traditional names. there really is something about them that I love. Like for the 20's to the 50's kind of names. Still searching for a boys name but don't want anything too trendy. Names like Samuel, Thomas, Timothy that kind of thing...anyone have any ideas????

Thanks!

Some of the classic names are great. I'm just not into resurrecting some of the ones that never sounded good in the first place. I think it's important to put yourself in the child's place. What 8 year old or 19 year old boy is going to like the name Herbert or Marvin? What teenage girl or 25 year old woman is going to like having Pearl, Mabel, Opal or Martha? Something to think about....

I think it is hard to tell how a 25 year old will like being Martha or Opal...she may in fact hate it more to be one of 5 Kaylynn/Kaylee's in her workplace!

I only say this because we live near Baylor University, and I swear every other girl there is named Ashley Nicole. I bet some of them would love to be Martha, to stand out a bit!

completely agree carrie!!

well obviously there are horrible classic names too. A persons need to always have a clue. lol...and not name your kid something awful...but I just think the trendy names of today don't have as much umph to them or something. It all depends on the name..some trendy names are nice but I guess its all in how the name makes you feel and definitely how you associate it is important. I know a beautiful teenage girl named Martha....I think the name is great!!!

I also like traditional names for boys. We have narrowed our choices down to Joseph or Jason for a boy. I also like Michael, Sam, Christopher and John.

Hope this helps!
