Names for a difficult last name

Love my husband, but he wasn't blessed with the easiest of last names. The last name is Dudan pronounced Do-dan-- preferably together-- if you know what I mean.. as much of a one syllable than two.. I don't like- Dooo Dan..

Anyways, we have a 2 year old girl we named Casey- she's very sweet-- and are expecting in late December/early January (dd: 1/2/05).

Whereas, I don't feel like we are having a boy, I want the middle name to be Warren after my grandfather. My husband doesn't want to use that as a 1st name bc we wouldn't call him that.. and he against using middle names as 1st... so _____ Warren Dudan it will be. All the names in the family are very simple and traditional, but I don't want to be too common. But everything we come up w/ is common.. Christopher, Nicholas, Matthew... Thoughts?

As for girls, For a sister to Casey Nicole, I am liking Lea (Lia).. Lia(Lea) Caroline??, Kari... Kari Elise?,... Kari Noelle?.. but I am liking Laela too.. thought there??

Thanks soo much, I look fw to the responses..

Well, for a boy, how about Timothy Warren? I really like Timothy, and I don't hear it nearly as often as Matthew, Christopher, or Nicholas. I think it goes really well with your daughter's name, too!

I also like Daniel a lot, too -- Daniel Warren -- I think Casey and Danny are very cute together, but I know Daniel is common, too. Other suggestions would be Patrick Warren and Luke Warren.

I probably am not being that helpful because I favor rather mainstream and common names for boys myself.

I love the name Caroline for girls, but I think it may be too formal and girly-girl compared to Casey. I really like Casey, by the way. How about Carly? Casey and Carly are cute together, and I didn't think you'd find them to be too close since you were considering Kari. Casey and Courtney are cute sister names, too.

I like Lea/Lia/Leah, too, as well as Leila, but again, it seems like a more flowery, feminine name compared to Casey. I don't know if it matters to you to have the girls' names match in style. Some people really care and others' don't. But your chioces are definitely pretty in their own right.

Hope this helps!

Bradley Warren

Jeffrey Warren

Scott Warren

Eric Warren

Curtis Warren

Kyle Warren

Elliott Warren

Gregory Warren

I really like the name Lea(Lia). Names I think go with Casey- Jamie, Erin, Shelby, Tori, Rhianne, Shea, Peyton, Devin. What about Noelle Caroline Dudan? I think it sounds nice with sister's name and so appropriate for the time of year she will be born.

Best of luck,

Dana

What excellent names... I so appreciate your help.

You know, I didn't even make the connection of Noelle, how silly of me. I definitely think it's a front runner for a middle name... I love Tori, Lea and Jamie...

As for boys, great suggestions.. Curtis pops out into my head, that was actually my grandfather's brother's name who passed away 12/7/2003- and Curt wouldn't be too bad..I just think the names flow better using Warren as a first name... - I've got these printed.

You've been wonderful!

Thanks,

Kristina

Dudan isn't as hard as you think - the main thing is - AVOID ALL Ds - the two Ds in Dudan are enough. you also want to avoid en, in, an, on enders, because it's too rhymey with Dudan - examples, things like Lauren, Erin etc for girls, things like Kevin, colin, Ryan, etc. for boys.

I love Matthew and Christopher. I like Nicholas OK, it's not one of my favorites and for some reason it's a hot name right now, lots of little Nicholas'

While I love Christopher, the nn Chris, then you always have people asking "boy or girl" because both use that nn.

Matthew Warren Dudan sounds fine together. even though Matthew ends in a W and Warren starts in a W, the ending sound of Matthew is more like a U sound, rather than W, so it works out fine.

other possibilities that would sound good: Gregory Warren Dudan, Jeffrey Warren Dudan, Joshua Warren Dudan, Kyle Warren Dudan, Michael Warren Dudan, Nathaniel Warren Dudan, Timothy Warren Dudan, Zachary Warren Dudan. I agree some of the trendier names just don't quite sound right with it.

girls - I like Kari Noelle. Kari Elise is OK, think Noelle flows much better. maybe since Casey starts with a C, you could start Cari with a C as well. I guess I do like it better with a K though.

I'm not a Lia fan (too many Leahs around). It's OK, just not one of my faves. I think there are plenty of girls names which would go with Dudan and match up with Casey. I do agree that Y, I, long-E enders seem to flow well into Dudan, some A-enders too.

most of these would go well and with Noelle in the middle:

Aubrey, Ashley, Brittney, Chelsea, Chloe, Cara, Courtney, Hilary, Hailey (very over-used right now, but does match up well), Kelsey, Kara, Molly, Maura, Rayna, Torri, Whitney.

good luck.

I like the following:

For girls

Leah Noelle Dudan (using Noelle or Joy for MN)

I like Kiley better though.

**Kiley Noelle Dudan - then both the girls have "N" for mn.

or Krista Noelle Dudan

(A good friend of mine has the last name of DuDa - so we have the last name talk a lot.)

For boys -

Christopher Warren Dudan would work or even Cristian Warren Dudan

I like Kyle.

Kyle Warren Dudan might be another option for - having the "c" sound.

If I think of a few others - I'll pass them along.

Best of luck.

We are still looking for the right fit for our new baby girl too.

Donna :-)
