Got the boy's name...but if it's a girl?

I'm 18 weeks so we can't find out the gender yet. We've always known we'd name our son Daniel so we've got no problems in that department....the girl's name is a different story! My husband hardly likes any names I suggest. These are the three we're narrowed down to...please help.

1.) Nicole --- nickname Nicky

(the things I don't like about Nicole, although I've always thought it's a pretty name, is that there are 2 in our family, it's very common and the meaning is "power of the people" which is a little weird)

2.) Miranda ---- nickname Randy

(I like Miranda a lot, and Randy even more! I think it's both pretty and cute. The tough part is going to be picking a middle name. We have a long last name and Miranda is a long first name so we're looking for something short and pretty. We're considering Leigh --- any other suggestions are welcome!)

3.) Willow ---- nickname Will

(I like this name also. I think it's very pretty and unique. The problem is...is it TOO unique? I don't want people saying "Willow?!?!" every time she's introduced. Also, we'd need a short name to go with this one too...and please don't say TREE!)

Votes Please!!!!!

Thank you!

Nicole - Nicole is a great name. Not very adventurous but defintely a good name. It is a more common name but not over the top. Looks like you like boy nns. What about Cole?

Miranda - Also a great name. This one is a touch more unique then Nicole. I'm not a fan of the nn Randy but you seem to love it and that's what matters.

Willow - I know a little girl named Willow. When I heard her name I thought "how cute!" not "Geez that's odd." This one of course is even more adventurous then Miranda.

If I were you I would go with Willow I like it as it is or with the nn. But you really can't go wrong with any of these names.

i really like different or unique names so nicole really isn't my style. i prefer names with a little twist like nicola instead of nicole and miranda is cute but i don't really care for randy as a nn, it's too masculine for me, i'd prefer mira as a nn like the actress mira sorvino... but i LOVE LOVE willow. it was actually one of my suggestions but dh doesn't care for it. my mum loves willow too. she wishes she would have named me that instead.. good luck!!! we are having the same problem. we have a boy's name but are having a terrible time deciding on a girls name...i actually have a poll up too!!

take care!

I like both the Miranda and Willow options. I would choose Miranda over Willow, though, only because of the teasing possibilities when she is older (___ Willow). I do think it's such a pretty name though.

I like Daniel a lot :)

Miranda is definitely my favorite from your list, and Randy is a very cute nn...Nicole is okay, just never a favorite of mine, and you don't seem to want to use it as much as your other choices either. Willow-this is pretty, but feels a little too different for me-it would be for me to use, but it pretty nonetheless. As for mn's, how about:

Miranda Claire

Miranda Paige

Miranda Nicole (a pretty combo that uses two of your choices :)

Willow Mae

Willow Brynn

Willow Paige

good luck!

kind of unusual that you are into a traditional name like Daniel for a boy, but then the trendy/unique sort for a girl. - nothing wrong with that, I don't mean for it to sound that way, but just a little unusual.

anyhow, I like Nicole (Nicki) but it was so 80s. I like Miranda, nn Randi the most of the three. I tend to favor unique names and Willow is too out there for me, so I think you are right about the Willow????? reactions. curious, too, why you have all girl names where the nicknames are boys names - Nicky, Randy and Will. wouldn't you rather than outright girl names so that later when you would have both boys and girls, people wouldn't be confused as to who is who?

good luck.

Perhaps something short such as Miranda Jo. I think Randy Jo is cute.

I love the name Miranda - NN Randi. I would have used it for my daughter but my DH said NO! I also like the name Willow - I know 2 actually. 1 is in her 30s and 1 is 3.

I like Nicole, Miranda and Willow much better than the nicknames for each. Miranda Leigh is beautiful. Why not just call her Miranda? If you do, however, choose Randy, I would go with an "i" instead of a "y". Randi looks more like a girl's name.

Just my opinion, I know how tough it is to choose the right name. Good luck!
