We are due to have our 6th baby at the end of December early January.

We have 4 girls and 1 boy & found out this baby is a Boy as well. we decided on the name

Jarrett Stephen,

Now when We first came across the name it had the same meaning as our other son Jordan & thought that it would be really neat to have found a name we loved and also have the same meaning seeing they well be the only 2 boys ( having 4 sisters) it would be really special. Well I looked in another baby book at the book store yesterday and it had a completly different meaning.

Can anyone help me find what

Jarrett Means??

Thanks in advance for your help

Babynames.com says its from the name Jared, a biblical name meaning "down to earth". Jordan means "descendant". On the otherhand, the same source says Jarod with an "o" also means "descendant". I see where the confusion comes from. Go for it!

Well, behindthename.com had Jarrett listed as a derative of Garrett and that says: GARRETT m

Usage: English

Pronounced: GER-et

From a surname derived from the name GERALD or GERARD. A famous bearer of the surname was Pat Garrett, the sheriff who shot Billy the Kid.

Looking up Gerald, I get:

GERALD m

Usage: English

Pronounced: JER-awld

From a Germanic name meaning "rule of the spear", from the element ger "spear" combined with wald "rule". This name was brought to Britain by the Normans.

Then looking up Gerard, I get:

GERARD m

Usage: English, Dutch

Pronounced: je-RAHRD

Derived from the Germanic element ger "spear" combined with hard "brave, hardy". The

Normans introduced this name to Britain.

So I'd say Jarrett means "brave or hardy"
