help with names for 3rd baby
| Tue, 10-19-2004 - 2:46pm |
I posted a poll a few weeks ago about continuing with 'C' names for our 3rd baby. We have 2 DSs, Connor and Carson. I have been around and around with all the C names I can find for both a boy and a girl and I am not sold on any. So I decided to not force it and just go in with a list and see what fits the baby when s/he is born (that's how other DSs were named). But I would like some help narrowing down the list. LN is one syllable. Please give any opinions and any other suggestions:
Boy (mn Michael)
Curtis
Evan
Caleb
Lucas
Aaron
Corbin
Spencer
Cullen
Caden
Kyle
Colton
Girl (mn Marie)
Michaela
Autumn
Katrina
Courtney
Kendall
Sabrina
Camille
Jenna

Connor & Carson &...in order of preference...
Spencer Michael (Connor, Carson & Spencer sounds GREAT!)
Lucas Michael
Aaron Michael
Evan Michael
OR:
Camille Marie (Connor, Carson & Camille sounds fabulous!)
Katrina Marie
Sabrina Marie
I adore Michaela but it sounds funny with Marie as a middle name. Would you condider another Mary derivative?
something like Michaela Marion, Michaela Rosemary, Michaela Marya, Michaela Manon, Michaela Marisol.. or the Mary vaiant that comes from whatever ethnic gruop you've got in your family? Mine would be Michaela Mariska (Hungarian), Michaela Mariya (Ukranian), or Michaela Marya (Russian), Michaela Máiri, Michaela Maura, Michaela Mhairi or Michaela Moira (all 4 are Scottish Mary variants)
Curtis - love this one. It's a great name that's so underused. Sounds great with Michael.
Evan - another favorite. Evan Michael is great.
Caleb - I really like this one paired with Michael too.
Lucas - This is not one of my favorites only because it's so overused in my area.
Aaron - I like this one, but it's not one of my top names. Aaron Michael sounds good though.
Corbin - I like this one too. Another great choice.
Spencer - I like this one, but don't care for Spencer Michael too much. Not sure why.
Cullen - This one is okay. I probably would pick another 'C' name before this one.
Caden - I think Caden Michael is a great combo, but Caden is so overused here. Plus I've know girls who are using it now.
Kyle - Love this one too. But Kyle Michael sounds a little heavy on the long I sound.
Colton - Like this one, especially with nn Cole.
Girl (mn Marie)
Michaela - Don't care too much for this, but I assume it's after a family member. In that case, I would use it. Michaela Marie is a bit heavy on the 'm's though.
Autumn - Love this one. So pretty.
Katrina - Like this one. Katrina Marie sounds a little 80s though.
Courtney - Like this one too. Sounds slightly dated though.
Kendall - I wouldn't use a unisex name with your other two boys names. I'd choose a more feminine name for your DD. Still, it's a nice name.
Sabrina - I like this one. It's pretty, spunky and not popular. Only drawback is the 'Sabrina the Witch' teasing potential.
Camille - Love this one. It's my top pick of your girls names.
Jenna - I like this one. Very nice with Marie.
Good luck narrowing it down. You have a great list.
I really like Camille for a girl's name and probably Colton or Caleb for a boy. Have you heard the name Cairan for a boy. I had a friend who named her oldest DS this. It is Welsh, but I don't know the meaning. It's pronouned "Kai-run".

Of your choices, I like-
Spencer Michael #1- This is a great fit with Connor & Carson. I also like Evan. Perfect fit.
***Have you considered moving down a letter- D- good ones- Dawson Michael, Dalton Michael, Dustin Michael-
Also- I guess you've figured out that your other sons both have six letter names. This is the way I connected my children. They both have 8 letters. The D- names I've listed all have six letters and fit great with other sons...
Of the C-names you've listed, I like Caleb and Curtis(& six letters!) because neither one ends the same as either of the other boys' name. Ex. Cullen/Caden is quite similar to Carson! Just my opinion... Caleb Michael has great flow.
GIRLS-
None of the girl names you've selected have six letters and none of them start with D-, which would be my two choices of ways to connect to siblings without having to "find" another C- name. What about Devin, Delaney, Deidre/Deirdre?
That said, here's my opinion on your list-
I honestly don't like matchy names, yet I think Kendall is a great fit with Carson & Connor, the best fit on the list. I also love the name Kendall. Very classy.
The other two that stand out to me are Jenna & Autumn(& six letters). They sound very good with mn & with the boys' names!
I hope this helps and very best wishes for smooth sailing with labor & delivery! Good luck! Ginger
