A coworker of mine gave birth to a healthy baby girl on Thursday and named her Xandria, instead of the traditional Alexandria. When asked, my coworker said her DH loved the name Alexandria, but my coworker did not want her DD to have a traditional, common name. So they compromised and named her Xandria, which I think is pretty neat. Another example of this would be Xandra, instead of Alexandra.

I just thought I would share my opinion and say that I think Xandria (or Xandra) is a very interesting and still pretty name. Any thoughts?

I neither intensely dislike it or have fallen in love with it. I reminds me of Xanthe, though, which is one of my all-time faves. Later, Ginger

I like the thought of it and the sound of it, but I don't like the "X" initial. I think it would make a good nn for Alexandra/Alexandria instead of the popular Alex or Ally or Lexie, but I don't know that I would really use Xandra/Xandria on its own.

I love Xandria, Alexandria is on my list, it's my fave for a girl, if we ever have another. I have considered Xandria as a possible nn. I would not use just Xandria as I love Alexandria too much.
