I don't recognize your screen name, so I don't remember if I posted on your original post for name suggestions or not - there are some on each list which probably could have been on a list I gave out
at any rate here are my thoughts on your girls list:
My top 4 from it: Jillian, Alyssa, Teagan, Noelle.
There are two others I would like if they were spelled differently and/or pronounced just slightly different. I like Kira, but not Kyra. Kyra, to me, is with a Long I sound - like K-EYE-ra. Kira is like Keer-ah. It could also be spelled Keira to get that pronunciation. Also, I like Kyndle rather than Kendall. Unlike Kyra, the Y in Kyndle is not pronounced with a Long I - but rather as KIN and is next-of-kin or kindling wood. (Weird huh, how the English language can have so many different sounds in the same scenarios). Also, Kyndle is much more feminine sounding because Kendall is largely known as a man's name.
I'm surprised at your Madison comment - just hearing it in church on a 4-year-old. It is easily the most popular name in the country. It's been 2nd or 3rd for the last five or six years, topped only by Emma and Emily. There are Madison's everywhere. I know literally dozens from age 14 down to infants. I wouldn't recommend it just because of its popularity.
On your boys list my top 5 are: Luke, Ian, Colin, Kyle. I could go for Holden rather than Hayden as number 5. If you go with Hayden, he'll have girls with his name in his pre-school classes. It's "gone to the girls" quite regularly. Still being used for boys somewhat, but you have to decide if you care about that. I would.
good luck
Great lists! I am a huge fan of Eden, too!
Here are my top five in order and comments about each name on your list-
girls- Marina Kyra Francesca Elora Juliet
boys- Dorian Myles Roman Luke Isaiah
Marina - I love this name. It's actually very old, and you never hear it.
Jillian - Another real beauty, though I prefer the original spelling Gillian
Lila- Very pretty. I like Lyla b/c I think pronunciation is clearer.
Angelina- Neat name but very trendy b/c of Angelina Jolie. I recently read an article that talked about how far up in the popularity ratings this names has come...in a hurry.
Olivia- Gorgeous, but SO popular. There are others on your list that are equally or more pretty without your child "meeting herself" on the street so much!
Gabrielle- Pretty but also quite popular.
Teagan- I love this name---would be #7 of your list.
Kallista- I like Calista.
Kyra- I adore this name and the meaning- lady.
Noelle- One of my faves. I also like Noella. Would be a lovely mn--- Kyra Noelle, Francesca Noelle
Alexa- Not as appealing, should I say, doesn't have as much flair as others on your list
Juliet- Gorgeous name.
Laurel- Would be #6 of your list. I adore this name.
Elora- Love it. Grows up well. Adorable on a tot, classy/sexy on a grown woman.
Alyssa- No. Heard it too much.
Francesca- I love it. This would've been my daughter's name, had my dh agreed!
Alyson- Allison, maybe. Lacks the grace of others on the list. I love it for a mn with some of them though- Kyra Allison, Juliet Allison
Madison (I heard this name yesterday at church she was about 4 yrs old)--- What? There have been about 150,000 little girls named Madison in the last fifteen years in the US alone. That's an average of 15,000/year. That's 300 per state PER YEAR. That's 3-4 per county, at least. That means in a kindergarten class- Madison A., Madison B., Madison C., etc, etc. etc. Sorry, I guess my opinion is abundantly clear, LOL!
Kendall- I like this name a lot for a boy or girl.
Boys
Josiah- I like it. Much prefer to Joseph.
Kyle- See comment under Madison.
Bryson- I like this one too, but it is quite popular in certain regions.
Quinn- Great choice! Would be #6 from your list.
Dorian- Wonderful- Let me demonstrate my view on names- brother & sister- Dorian & Marina versus brother & sister- Kyle & Madison...
Myles- I LOVE this name.
Hayden- Used to like it- too popular- What about Holden?
Bryan- Too popular.
Ethan- WAY TOO POPULAR. See comments under Madison.
Elijah- "Newly rediscovered" Biblical names are huge. E- names are huge. It's a great name, really, but it's big and still growing.
Isaiah- Biblical vowel names are a trend. This one is just beginning to see usage, but it will keep going too. What about Isaac (which will eventually follow the same path) or Timothy?
Sebastian- I love it. It's in the mid 70s in popularity I think. Lots of people have it on their "final" list. I can see why.
Wyatt- I like this too.
Roman- I love it.
Owen- I see the appeal. So does everyone else.
Aidan- A fantastic name. That's why it's the fastest growing name in America.
Colin- Very good choice. Not as popular, but still quite recognizable. Cute on a tot, strong on a man.
Luke- I adore it, but it's the new Jake. What does that mean? Lots and lots of them over the next 5-10 years.
Ian- I like it. Prefer Evan.
Very fun list. You have excellent taste. Keep us posted! Ginger
