Need ideas on Spelling and NN....

Ok, so I've fallen in love with the name Loralei for my 3rd DD. I've had the hardest time coming up with a name I love. However, I feel like she'd need a nickname, some shorter version of Loralei, to be called....and I do not like Lora....any ideas? Also, is this the best speeling for the name? It's the only one in my baby book, but I'm open to sugestions if anyone has any. I'd appreciate any thoughts! TIA!

I had the name on my list since I was in highschool. It's German and is in refernce to a legend of a siren who would lure sailors to their deaths in the shallows. Now there is a large rock in the middle of the Rhine named after her. It's spelled Lorelei in German and incidentally, it's the spelling I prefer. One of my ex's told me he'd have called a baby girl named Lorelei, LeiLei. Which killed the name for me, LOL!
I still really like the name though. It's also the name used on the Gilmore Girls, so it won't be "foreign" to a lot of people.
Introducing baby #4.......
I think I've seen it Lorelei, but I'm not sure
I can't see much other than Lora or Lori out of it.
I don't really like it, so I might be a bad one to be suggesting here.
I know we all suggested other "A" names for you at one point to go with Ashley and Abigail
I'm not saying that's absolutely necessary, I know many 3-children families with two of one initial and one with another, but even without the A I don't really see Lorelei matching up with the other two. Ashley is more on the trendy side, Abigail on the classic traditional, Lorelei seems just old rather than classic/traditional to me.
good luck though
The name is pronounced Lore-eh-lye, not Lore-eh-lee

mommy to Christopher and Nicholas
I also love Lorelai-this spelling. lei at the end may be pronounced Lay instead of Lie.
As for a nn-Rori is cute as suggested above but a little far from the real name.
Personally, Lorelai I would *definitely* pronounce as lor-eh-lay just as AI is in Aimee, Aidan, Raine, etc.
I agree it's a gorgeous name. It's feminine and grows up well. I prefer the original Lorelei and the traditional pronunciation (-lie ending sound). I think most people are familiar and it wouldn't take long to establish it. A (-lay) ending is a variant and changes the name, imo.
Best wishes! Ginger PS Happy to see you go with a new letter - This would be a lovely sib to go with your other two.
