Kai sounds like a girls name to me. How do you pronounce it. I loved Jackson, but it seems that's the new "Jason".

Thanks for the reply. Kai is a boy's name (although it is listed as unisex in some books)- it's hawaiian. It is pronounced like Chai tea except with a hard "K". We would use it as the middle name.

I think that Jackson Kai is cool, and even tho I like both the names Maya and Elle, I don't like them together cuz of the vowels sounds blending into one another (the last a of Maya and the first e of Elle).

Hi there,

My first reaction to Jackson is 'just name him Jack!' but Jackson Kai definitely works better than Jack Kai, lol. It's sort of an american version of two popular english names- Jack's been the most popular boys' name in England for 10 years now, and Kai's been hovering around #60 for years- I thought it was an update of Kay, a descendent of the Roman cognomen Caius/Gaius (Kai-us), I didn't know there was a Hawaiian connection. So I think what I'm trying to say is it's very cool.

Maya Elle- is that El or Ellie? Another really cool name, with that slightly London-esque flavouring in the style- Maya is #82 there (and 85 here, so maybe I'm just misintrepreting that...) and Mia is #15, while Ellie is #2 and Ella #14, and Elle, Ellen and Eleanor all in the top 100 in the past few years.

Jackson and Maya are both cool names that should age well, the only think is they *may* be a little passe in 20 years' time, but not too badly...sort of like siblings Gina and Craig are probably in their 30s, Tara and Derek in their early 20s, and Logan and Brianna in grade school...not as generation defined as, say, Lisa, Kevin, Brittany and Tyler, but they are very cool names. As I said though, I think they're classics enough to withstand that- Maya and Jack(son in this case) do get my thumbs up :)

Jackson Kai is fine, and I like Maya but I don't like the way it sounds w/ Elle as a mn.

For the boy name, I absolutely love Jackson Kai! I really like both names a lot, and they sound awesome togehter. Its a very strong name. As for the girl, I like both names, Maya and Elle, separately, but I don't think they flow well together. If you want to use Maya, I suggest using a mn that doesn't start with a vowel. Perhaps Maya Rose or Maya Nicole. If you want to use Elle as the mn, maybe something that doesnt end in a vowel- Morgan Elle or Phoebe Elle (I find that Elle is a really hard mn, it doesn't seem to flow very well with any names!). Good luck!
