Narnian names

DH and i are huge fans of the chronicles of Narnia. we just went to see the movie on Sunday. both of our boys are named after characters from the books; Caspian Philip and Emeth Owen. now were're expecting #3 in July and we already have a girls name picked out and it is also from the chronicles; Aravis Lathea. we haven't settled on a boys name yet. if we do have a boy i'd kind of like to keep up our current trend. DH wont even discuss boy names until we find out the sex. when i ask him he sugests things like "StGeorgeDragonSlayer" or "GrandOl'DukeofYork". i have to admit Caspian would have been Marian Galadriel if he was a girl so we're not just stuck to one fandom. i just wish DH'd agree to let me use the name Theoden. I also like Digory. that one crosses to fandoms CoN and Harry Potter.
so what do you think? will the popularity of Narnian names be on the rise after the movie and a return of intrest to the books? i've known a couple of Aslans, one girl and one a boy and i've noticed that the name Lucy is being mentioned alot on the July '06 expecting board.

I jokingly suggested Aslan to my husband the other night and he thought it was great (he's never read the books) but we decided that it wouldn't make the best nickname (afraid the kids in the schoolyard might call him As with the soft /s/).

Love Lucy, though!

I'm just rereading the books now with my four year old so I'll let you know if I come across anything that would go with your other two.

I LOVE these books as well! They were a favourite of mine when I was younger. My favourite was The Magician's Nephew. I like Lucy a lot on a girl, and Theoden is really nice on a boy. Digory is not really my style, but its okay. I LOVE Emeth! What a nice choice to name your son.

I think that Narnian names will be on the rise (when I was expecting the Lord of the Rings names had become extremely popular). But the fact that you had started the trend before the movie came out makes me think you should stick with it. I do like Emeth. Good luck!

WOW!!! I was here to ask for input on girl names, but I about fell of my chair when I read your post. DH has picked the name Caspian for our baby due May 06 (if it's a boy) and I'm thinking, "No way, no one really does that..." I'm so curious how that has gone over...? How old is your son? Does he like his name?

DH swears it will become more popular now that the movies are coming out. But when we saw it together, I was shocked at how much Peter looked like DH as a boy. Maybe I could settle for Peter...? I don't think he like that as much. Nor do I really.

Seriously, I know of a few Arwens, so I know it is possible. I'm just not sure I could do it! Tell me what your experience has been.

As far as suggestions for your next baby, how about Galadriel? I always like Eowin (sp?) best myself. Thumbs up to Theoden too!

Aslan is Turkish boy name, so using it as a name isn't weird.

Why not Lucy , she is my favorite, she is so brave and in the original she wasn't cute , her sister had the looks and her brother had the brain she was overlooked.

I loved Lucy as kid and I loved the English TV- series, I am so scared to see the Disney version since Disney is know to destroy

Caspian is 4. when we picked the name, we told everyone we were definatly not going to shorten it to Cas. we both thought that sounded like a girl name. so my smartaleck friends said they were going to call him Pian. Ha Ha. I think i would have given him the nick name Ian if we hadn't had another friend who named their son Ian a few months before he was born. but after awhile we just fell into calling him Caspi. it really fits him. i'm home schooling him and that's how he writes his name on his papers. his little brother Emeth calls him "Daspi" it's so cute.
i've only heard of one other Caspian. i think he was a couple years older than our Caspi and he was from northern Indiana we're from middle Tenn. and i've never heard of another Emeth. there was a girl named Aslan in my class in highschool. and there's a little boy we know who's 6 now i think and his first name is Aslan-Asher.
we're still pretty set on Aravis if this one is a girl and if God gives us another girl after that i really like the name Helen. that's my great grandmother's name and she was the first queen of Narnia (wife of Frank the cabby in the Magicians Nephew)
it's funny that you say Peter looks just like your DH. Susan looks exactly like my sil. and my DH has always thought if we were to have a girl that she would look like sil.

my grandmother's name was Marian and DH's grandmother's name was Marian so it's a name i've always wanted to use. unfortunatly DH's brother and his wife named their first Mariana so we may have to resort to it as a middle name. and with the last name Moore it sounds kind of awkward.
