I am pregnant with my second child, a girl due to make an appearance around March 4th. On August 10th, 2005 my mother passed away in a motorcycle accident. She was very much in love with my oldest daughter (her only grandchild) and was excited about this one. My mother's name was Myra Lee, I am not very fond of the name Myra so I took out the "ra" and put the first and last name together to get Mylee. Has anyone ever heard of any other girls with this name?? What do you think of it? I would appreciate any opinions!!

The names isn't really my style, it sounds more like a nn to me, but its a beautiful way to honor your mother. You could always use it as a mn if you're not 100% on it.

I originally didn't care for the name, but when you mentioned your mother, I thought it was sweet. How about "Lee" or "Leigh"?

I think it is cute and a GREAT way to honor your mom. ButI think it would appear more formal if it was spelled Myleigh, because then she could go by Leigh if she would decide it was more appropriate, but I think Myleigh or Mylee is a perfectly good name, don't degrade it to a mn.

good luck

I have a co-worker with a 2-year-old granddaughter named Maile - pronounced Mylee - I think she's going to left open to pronunciation problems when she gets to school - to me that spelling looks like Maylee, but that was the child's other grandmother's name, who had died several years before and apparently was part Hawaiian

I think Mylee is a good compromise. Myra would be a really old name for a little girl in this ear

I think if it weren't for your mom's name being Myra Lee and you taking the ra out, in other circumstances I would spell it Mylie - by Mylee is fine.

go for it if you like it.

I know a Maile, pronounced MY-lee. It's a Hawaiian name but I forget what it means. I think it's absolutely beautiful!
