Shouldn't be thinking of names yet ...

since we're still TTC#4. But as I sit here and obsess during the 2ww, why not?

So far, we have 3 DS. Of course, I've had my girl name in reserve for many years. Now, it's become a challenge to come up with the boy names! As you will see, with each DS, their names get more and more uncommon!

Our LN starts with R, pretty much eliminating any FN ending in -er, in my opinion. I seem to have a penchant for FN ending with the letter N, but don't want to overdo it. I also *love* unusual letters, Q,V,X,Z.

My 3 DS's are:

Zachary Ty (nn Zach)
Zane Michael
Quinn Matthew

Names I am considering with Zach, Zane and Quinn ...

Quaid Thomas (*love* the #4 reference, but is it too much?)
Declan Trace (nn "Dex")
Kai Brennan
Trace Brenton (DH is Brent)

Open to any and all suggestions, since I've got a lot of time on my hands!

TIA,

~Beppy

I really like Quaid I think it is different enough from Quinn to be ok but I am not sure if it might sound to much like Zane when said quickly kwim(may be my pittsburgh dialect I speak very fast)? If it doesn't blur for you when said then I think it is great! What about Dexter(Dex) instead of Declan(Dex)? Trace is NMSAA and I am not sure how Kai goes with your sons' names. Xavier might be a nice fit for you. A couple others that come to mind are Vincent, Ivan(nn Van). I would avoid another Z.

Quaid Thomas (*love* the #4 reference, but is it too much?) - like the name. Like the meaning. Not sure I'd use it since you already have two Z names and another Q, however, especially since this would be easily confused with Zane.
Declan Trace (nn "Dex") - my pick from this list. Declan's always been a favorite, and nn Dex fits with your boys very well. ;)
Kai Brennan - Kai just doesn't seem to fit, IMO.
Trace Brenton (DH is Brent) - neither does Trace. It just has a much softer feel than the other names you've chosen, KWIM?

Other suggestions:

  • Wade

  • Wyatt (getting more common, though)

  • Hoyt

  • Boyd

  • Lachlan (nn Lach/Locke)

  • Everett

  • Sullivan (nn Van)

  • Donovan (ditto)

  • Clive

  • Felix

  • Dalziel

  • Dax

  • Tavish

  • Lennox

  • Malcolm/Colm

Thanks for the suggestions so far, ladies! I have to agree that while I love Kai and like Trace, they probably don't fit as well with the other boys' names.

I was just giving Wyatt some thought, though! I do see the connection between Dexter, nn Dex, but doubt I could convince DH on that one. Declan (Dex) is a little stretch, but is a better match with our boys, I think.

Love the V in Vincent, but not too keen on the name. Haven't found a V name I like yet, but sure would be happy with a V!

Love Dax, but prefer it as a NN. Just started giving Everett some thought, NN Rhett seems nice for us. Is "Everett" a little stuffy compared to the other names, though?

Of course, love the X in Lennox (it's been on my list before), but probably a hard sell to DH. Not sure if it fits in as well as the other options.

Quaid will stay on the list, but I'll have to give that one serious thought before actually using it. I know it's better than another Z ...

Lucas (Luke) has always been on my list, and I think it fits very nicely (Zach, Zane, Quinn, Luke). Passed it up for Quinn because it was too popular, I'm assuming that is still the case? *sigh*. It does seem like a return to the hard "K" sound seems right after the softer Zane & Quinn ... KWIM?

Keep the ideas coming, I'm starting to get inspired!

Hugs,

I don't think Everett is "stuffy" at all. ;) Actually, and I mean this in a completely positive way, Everett seems much less stuffy than Zachary -- simply because it's so popular, KWIM? -- and stylistically seems a perfect match with Zane and Quinn. Rugged, perhaps a bit Western, etc. And Zach, Zane, Quinn and Rhett would be a stunning sib set!

Some other Vs I don't think I included before ...

  • Vance

  • Vaughn

  • Virgil

Also thought of Oswald, nn Oz(zy). You've got the W in there, plus the Z sound, one-syllable nn (again, with a Z) ... just thought it could work for you. ;) Oscar, nn Oz(zy), as well.

And something like Simon, Silas or Cyrus, nn Si/Cy, might also appeal.

HTH ;)

I like Quaid Thomas, but not sure I'd use another Q name. Zach, Zane, Quinn, Quaid sounds very 'matchy'; almost too cute together.

I think Declan flows the best with your other boys' names. Declan Trace is nice. Have you considered Declan Quaid?

Other names you might like:

Vaughn
Deacon
Garrick
Roarke
Irving
Drake

Hi there.

I really like your ds' names. They all fit nicely together too.

Here are my thoughts on your list:

Quaid Thomas (*love* the #4 reference, but is it too much?)-Nah, it's kind of cool. It fits in really well.

Declan Trace (nn "Dex")-I really really like this.

Kai Brennan-This is neat, & fits in well.

Trace Brenton (DH is Brent)-I don't mind Trace as a mn, but it just doesn't have the same feel as your ds' names to be in the fn spot.

Here are a few more suggetions:

Alexander/Xander

Blaise

Colby

Cole

Colton/Cole

Corbin/Corey

Coby

Cash

Cade

Casper/Cas

Devin

Daily

Dayton

Ellis

Evan

Flynn

Finn

Jasper/Jass

Jesse

Jude

Keaton

Max

Miles

Mason

Nicolas/Nic/Cole

Owen

Pierce

Quest

Rafe

Schuylar

Sebastian/Satch

Tate

Travis

West(on)

Wesley/Wes

Xavier/Xavy

Hope this helps!

Thank you for the suggestions! I'm a little hesitant about Declan since my #2 and #3 both end in N, but still love it, especially Dex. Was really warming up to Everett, and especially Rhett, until I remembered our LN starts with R! Not into the alliteration too much.

DH Ok'd Wyatt, so that will make it on the list. Wesley is another interesting suggestion! I have thought of Owen before, but I think it's getting popular now also. Colby/Cole has potential too!

Think you ladies hit it on the nose with Trace as FN ... I'll switch it over to the MN spot.

Thanks again!

My favorite is Declan, nn Dex. I think Declan is such a handsome name, and Dex is a cool and spunky nn that will mesh well with your other boys.

I don't mind the idea of Quaid in and of itself, but I think it makes your sib set a little too matchy/ sing-songey. Zach, Zane and Quinn, Quaid are too much for me.

I really like Kai, but more as a nn for Malachi or something else.

Trace is nms.

Others you may like:
Dexter, nn Dex
Paxton, nn Pax
Blaise
